    Dear Readers:
We absolutely love getting your feedback about Topretirements and this newsletter - it is helpful so please keep it coming! And although we wish we had the time to respond to all of your requests, we simply don't.  This is a free site, and we hope, a cooperative effort. So here is our suggested alternative to asking us - if you have a specific question about retirement or where to live - please post it in the Forum under the most likely topic. Likewise if you see a question that you think you have some expertise on (or even an opinion!), reply to that post. Everyone will profit from the increased interaction and sharing of knowledge - thanks!

Why These 7 are the States You Should NOT Retire To
The reasons start with the same ones that face Greece these days - too much debt, a declining economy, and the prospect of reduced services.  Gregor Macdonald at Seeking Alpha has outlined why he thinks 7 U.S. states are in big trouble.  We've added our thoughts about why you should put up the Caution Flag before retiring to any one of them.

    Winchester, VA
Just above the beautiful Shenandoah Valley in northern Virginia, Winchester is a growing community with a nice Old Town. Close enough to Washington, D.C. - but not too close!

Our contributors added 12 more communities last week. We are especially pleased to welcome Terra Vista of Citrus Hills near Ocala as a Top Community. Click on a state to see more towns and a list of active adult communities in each.

Over 750,000 Americans traveled abroad in 2007 in search of medical care.  It's a fascinating situation, with top-tier American institutions even farming out work to their foreign affiliates.

    Helena, MT
Helena, located in the southern part of Montana, is the state capital. The area has been growing rapidly from people seeking out low cost, high recreation opportunities.
    Explore Helena
We've just finished completely updating and improving our 100 Best Retirement Towns book. You'll find 25 new towns that made this edition, updated real estate prices, and 300+ pages of useful information to help you narrow down your search.

    Bluffton, SC
This town usually makes about every best place to retire list. Located on a bluff overlooking the May River near Hilton Head, it's known for its art and its oysters. There are tons of active adult communities in the area.
